Beware of bats, that's the warning Friday from Illinois public health officials. The state's department of public health says bats are the primary carrier of rabies in the state, and they tend to become more active in August and September. We're being asked to avoid approaching bats on buildings or in homes. If we need assistance in removing bats, contact local authorities.
