Many families are now turning to area food pantries for help. The Belvidere-Boone County Food Pantry just payed off loans on its Capron facility. And now they're expanding next door. More than 50-thousand dollars were raised to make a down payment on the warehouse, which will be used to store more food and supplies. Volunteers say this will help them assist more families since many are now losing their jobs.
"Over the last couple of months we've seen the number of people coming in to use our goods and services go up a lot. It's a good thing to be helping out right now; it's very needed and appreciated," says Nathan Noble.
Donations are being accepted at the food pantry, which is located off South Fifth Street in Capron.
