When shopping for kid's toys this holiday season, there's one thing we don't have to worry about as much, recalled products.
Recalled toys due to high levels of lead are down sharply in 2008, after spiking last year. In 2007, 112 products were recalled, this year there's been 64 but that's still way up from 2005 when there were only 20 lead recalls.
Most of the recalled products this year are from China and other parts of Asia. Plus, the Consumer Product Safety Commission is taking action, they're increasing the screening of toys coming into the country by using a tool, XRF Analyzers, they help detect lead.
Plus the government's come out with this years top five toy hazards. They include: scooters or other riding toys, small balls or other small parts, balloons, battery chargers or adapters and lastly, toys with small magnets that can be swallowed.
