A biodiesel company has local approval to go ahead with a manufacturing plant in the Rock County community of Clinton. Midwest Biofuel's site plan for a nearly three-acre site has the OK from a local planning commission. The Georgia company plans to make biodiesel fuel from soybean oil. It involves a relatively new technology developed in the United States. Unlike conventional manufacturing, it doesn't require the use of acid and doesn't have toxic water discharge and pollution.

The company plans to move its offices to Clinton when construction is done. The plant will initially employ about 25 people.

Midwest Biofuel says it will work with the Wisconsin soybean industry to create a crushing facility within the state, something Wisconsin doesn't have yet.
