Graffiti is a criminal act and an ever increasing problem. This week I am joined by Rockford Police Detective Sgt. Andre Brass as we seek your help to identify the individuals responsible for the graffiti. Andre, what can you tell us about the investigation. Rich, in the past several months we have seen a tremendous increase in graffiti throughout the greater Rockford area. The suspects work primarily at night and use spray paint to deface public properties with gang signs, hip hop and other personal tags. The city of Rockford Public Works Department works with citizens to cleanup the damage and investigating the crimes in a high priority. In many cases, the costs associated with cleaning up the graffiti will result in the filing of felony criminal charges against the suspects when they are arrested. Doing Graffiti is no joke. If you have any information Call Crime Stoppers at 963-7867 or 888-769-stop Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to 1000-dollars for information which solves a crime. When you call Crime Stoppers we don't ask your name, we do not have Caller ID.
