The Chicago/Rockford International Airport will soon truly live up to its name. In just a few months, the airport will start hosting international flights again. Apple Vacations announced it will fly from RFD to Cancun on an expanded schedule beginning this fall. The last plane to Cancun flew out in April. The next flights are scheduled for Saturdays starting in November and ending in April. An Apple spokesman says they will add twelve flights to Cancun, tripling the number of seats available in the past.
A heads up for travelers. Starting as early as December, US citizens will need a passport to return to the Stateline from Mexico. To deal with this inconvenience, Apple has offered to pay for passengers' passports if they stay at participating hotels in Cancun.
Apple's passport promotion ends October 31st. Ryan International Airlines operates planes for Apple Vacations.
