Boone County voters are being asked to support a half-cent sales tax increase this election. And local officials want us to see what that money would go towards. An open house was held at the Public Safety Building today. It's currently shared by Belvidere Police and the Boone County Sheriff's Department. Officials say it's overcrowded and is desperately in need of an expansion and computer upgrades. If approved, sales tax would be seven and a quarter percent. groceries, medication and utilities would not be effected.
