Poplar Grove residents will have a new grocery store to redeem their coupons at. Pacemaker Countryside Market is slated to open this week. The new store is 40-thousand square feet and is located on Route 76. Up until about a year ago, the village was growing at a fast pace. But even with things slowing down, residents say this will be much more convenient than traveling far for groceries.
"It'll alleviate the drive to get groceries... having to drive 10 minutes or 15 minutes to Machesney Park or Belvidere, especially in the upcoming winter months," says Andrea McIntyre.
"I think it'll be good for the community, mostly because it'll bring in more revenue through sales tax and maybe even some more development," says Jim Fabos.
The store officially opens on Tuesday at 10 a-m. It's owned by the Dal Pra family who's been in the grocery business for 65 years.
