A new campaign has kicked off throughout Illinois and here in the stateline to get women screened for breast cancer. Walgreens and beauty salons have teamed up with the state for breast cancer awareness month. Hair dressers and manicurists have promised to get the word out to uninsured women that they qualify for free cervical and breast cancer screenings. The first two-thousand women to sign up will receive a 25-dollar gift-card from Walgreens.

"Early detection is key. If I had not been early detected, there's no telling where I would be today and without the program where else could I be, I wouldn't be able to pay for it," said Veronica Akers who was screened for cancer.

The first 2000 women to sign up for IBCCP by calling the Women's Health Line at 1-888-522-1282 to schedule and keep their screening appointment will receive a $25 gift card from Walgreens.
