LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- Evangelist Tony Alamo (uh-LAH'-moh) is on his way from Arizona to Arkansas, under the watch of federal marshals.

He'll be answering to charges that he took children across state lines to engage in sexual activity.

A federal marshal in Arkansas confirms that Alamo is on his way, but he's not offering any other details.

State and federal authorities raided Alamo's compound in Arkansas last month. They were looking for evidence that children there had been molested or filmed having sex.

State authorities later took six girls from the compound into protective custody. Officials haven't said what the girls told them.

Five days after the raid, FBI agents arrested Alamo in Arizona.

Alamo has said he considers the age of consent to marry to be puberty, and that there's a mandate in the Bible for girls marrying young. But he denies the federal allegations.

He was convicted of tax-related charges in 1994 and served four years in prison.
