Was it an accident leak, or some desperate druggies looking for a score?
Investigators are trying to figure out who's responsible for an anhydrous ammonia Leak in Winnebago County.
At around 2:30 Tuesday morning some folks on Route 75 called police saying they smelled ammonia. Investigators closed off the area after confirming there was anhydrous ammonia leak at landmark industries.
Firefighters were then able to fix the leaking tank. Anhydrous ammonia is commonly used on farms, but can damage lungs if breathed in high concentrations.
It's also an ingredient for manufacturing meth. Investigators do not know the exact cause of the leak.
