3,000 Rockford Third-Graders Get Free Dictionary

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It was the Dictionary Day in the Rockford School District.

Every third grader in District 205 received their very own free dictionary on Tuesday. We stopped by Hillman Elementary when the books were being passed out to the students.

More than 3,000 dictionaries were handed out in the Rockford Public Schools. Hillmans Principal Carolyn Kloss says students will put them to good use.

"I can tell you today and this week it will be the most popular book in the classroom for all the students. They will choose it for their read to self book or read with someone book. but this will be the most popular book at Hillman this week I'm sure," Kloss said.

The books are free thanks to Sara Ingrassia and Jackie Confer Dictionary Fund, which was created 17 years ago to honor the former school district leaders.
