A Rockford hospital in the "heart of the city" opened its doors to a new cardiac care facility Thursday. Leaders of Swedish American unveiled the new heart hospital on Charles Street.
It's dedicated to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Patients will recover in the hospital after undergoing open heart surgery.
The $50 million project has been planned for 10 years now. The president and CEO of Swedish American says the new facility matches the excellent care provided by the hospital's doctors and staff.
