A Korean War veterans group says it's declining an invitation to march in Rockford's Memorial Day parade because organizers repeatedly place its members in the next-to-last spot.
Rockford Area Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 272 director Floyd Herbig says the group sent an April 19 letter asking parade organizers to tweak the marching order but did not receive a response.
But John Scott, who received Herbig’s letter and processed applications for parade entrants, said he didn't know why the Korean War vets opted out of the parade. Scott said he thought they had a scheduling conflict.
Organizers have said there is no pecking order to the parade.
