Millions of Americans’ personal information has been stolen. A laptop containing the names and personal information of 26 million veterans was stolen from Washington earlier this month.
The laptop belonged to a senior member of veterans’ affairs and was taken home without authorization. It was later stolen from his home in Washington. Local police, the FBI, and the Veteran Affairs Inspector General are working on the case.
The major breach of security was announced to local VFW members Monday in Machesney Park. They're concerned that there is no way to know whether or not their names were on that list.
