It was a mad dash to get out of Downtown Rockford Saturday night as a birthday bash turned into a birthday brawl. Several shots were fired and hundreds of people rushed to get out alive.
Rockford Police say shots were fired just after midnight inside of the UAW in the 100 block of North Second Street. A birthday party was taking place with about 500 people in attendance. Party goers were scrambling to get out of the building. Punches were thrown and Rockford Police used pepper spray to end the face off. Outside in a nearby alley another round of shots were fired. That sent downtown patrons out of various establishments to see what was going on. In all Rockford police arrested three individuals and recovered 2 guns. There were no injuries.
