More people are wearing the badge but certainly don't want to protect and serve the community. The Chicago Sun-Times reveals that a growing number of people are using phony police badges to commit crimes.

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich increased the penalties for impersonating a police officer or firefighter. The penalty for impersonation of a peace officer is three to seven years in prison.

The bill also makes it a felony to unlawfully stop another person while operating a car with flashing or rotating lights.
