DeKalb Mayor Frank Van Buer Dead at 74
Van Buer, the mayor since 2005, died of pancreatic cancer on Wednesday.

DeKalb Mayor Frank Van Buer (BEW'-er) has died at the age of 74.
Van Buer, the mayor since 2005, died of pancreatic cancer on Wednesday
Van Buer learned he had cancer in April and soon began undergoing chemotherapy.
Assistant City Manager Rudy Espiritu praised Van Buer as a devoted public servant.
The city will appoint a Mayor Pro Tempore at the next City Council meeting and an acting mayor will be appointed at a later date.
