Dozens Remember Murder Victim Shot and Killed on Sunday

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Dozens remember a local father shot and killed in the drivers seat of a running car this past weekend.

More than 30-people took part in a candle light vigil Tuesday night at the same spot where James Tilson, 27, was killed on Crandall Avenue Sunday morning. Officers say he was shot multiple times while sitting in a car parked outside a vacant home. Carlotta Thompson, Tilson's sister, says she has no idea why her brother would have ever been in this area.

He was a great guy and helped anyone who needed help. He was a great father and a loving son. He was not a gang member," Thompson said.

No one is in custody for Tilson's death.
