IL Voters Deal With Snow, Local Turnout Light

The weather delayed some election workers from getting to their polling places early in the day because of the storm.

In the Stateline turnout was termed "quiet" by one election official. And there have been no major problems reported in the area.

Sheriff's deputies and highway department workers in Morgan County were dispatched to pick up some election judges at their homes, and in Christian County some election judges found themselves stuck in the ditch and had to be pulled out.

Elsewhere, those who did turn out encountered scattered problems with the new voting equipment that replaced punch-card ballots.

A spokeswoman for Attorney General Lisa Madigan says the office has received some early reports of the new machines not working. But the reports are not concentrated in one city or area.
