On this Election Day there will be several candidate names on our ballot and we also have the opportunity to write-in someone's name. Out of an issue with tons of information, several different sides and lots of emotion two potential candidates have emerged. Wendy Schneider and Mary Osborn are both looking for your write-in votes in Tuesday’s Primary. These two women's names have become well-known thanks to a proposed ethanol plant in Winnebago County. Both are part of ICE, Informed Citizens Engaged. Schneider would like to run on a Democratic ticket for County Board District One and face Randy Olson. Osborn is also looking to be a Democratic candidate for County Board District One and take on Tom Owens. The two need at least 35 votes in order to secure a spot in the November election. Schneider says the issues among county board are not being handled appropriately.
Schneider says, "This is not the only reason why I am running. I think it's a great opportunity and I think the county realizes that it's time for a change on the board in both parties.”
The Winnebago County Farm Bureau is one of the polling places expected to see these write-in votes. The polls are open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
