With record setting gas prices this weekend, many state-liners are ditcthing the 4th of the July vacation and staying closer to home to save money.

AAA estimates about six-hundred thousand fewer Americans nationwide are staying home this holiday weekend because of the soaring gas prices. And I found today that that number includes families from our neck of the woods too. Instead to taking the drive elsewhere, they're visiting local tourist spots like Coco Key. We met the Catalani family of Roscoe there. They've taken RV trips to Wisconsin in the past, but say this year they couldn't with the rising gas prices. They're spending the night at Coco Key with their 4-year-old daughter Kailynn. They're making the best of a weekend that also includes the couple's weeding anniversary. But are still fed up with the rising price at the pump.

"There's got to be a stop to it somewhere because people can't afford to do anything anymore, you know. It's a little depressing when you can't even take a trip out town because it costs so much," said Lori Catalani, of Roscoe.

The manager at Coco Key told me that traffic into the water-park was higher than usual today, with three to five-hundred walk-in customers by the middle of the afternoon today. Many sharing the same story as the Catalani family.

We also called Magic Waters. They say today is actually the busiest they've been this summer. And they expect part of that is due to folks staying home because of the high gas prices.
