Violet Jones was a sister, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.

Marilyn Schumaker is one of violet's 12 brothers and sisters. Violet is the fourth sibling lost. "My mom's been through enough, she lost my sister to heart surgery, but this here is the worst," says Schumaker.

Violet was murdered in a house on Kishwaukee Street Wednesday. The man who lives there, 34-year-old Jonathan Bartman is charged with first degree murder. Schumaker is outraged by the nature of the crime.

"My sister was brutally beaten. Her body was just messed up," says Schumaker.

Schumaker says she always feels for families that lose a member to violence, but she never expected this to happen to her family.

The loss of Violet Jones is leaving a gap in the lives of her seven children and eight grandchildren.
