UPDATE: Man Killed at House Party Identified

UPDATE: The man shot and killed after a fight broke out at a house party on Rockford's north west side has been identified as 20-year-old Jarvis Lockhart of Rockford.

We're told Lockhart died of a single gunshot to the chest.

It all happened around 12:30 late Saturday night, early Sunday morning at 3423 Garfield Drive, near Kilburn and Auburn. Police believe a fight broke out at the party and that's when Lockhart was shot and killed. This is the 20th murder of the year in Rockford. Last year there were 14 murders.


ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- One man is dead after being found shot in a Rockford home early Sunday morning.

Rockford Police say they were called to a home on Garfield Drive just after midnight Sunday after getting a report of an aggravated battery with a firearm. When officers arrived, they found a man who’d been shot; he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The coroner's office says the victim is a 20 year old man, and he was shot in the chest. Detectives believe the victim may have been involved in a fight with someone while at a party at the home on Garfield. The victim’s name is not being released at this time.
