Ed Bachner must wait another few days before learning whether he could post bond. Judge Michael Mahoney issued a continuance so his new private attorney could learn more about the case. About a dozen friends and family members showed up in support. Several were emotional before his Federal Court hearing in Rockford.

"We're here to support the family cause we love them and I can't make any comment beyond that," says family friend Jeff Block.

Bachner is accused of possessing deadly toxins and plotting to hire a hit man to kill a 32-year-old woman. It's unclear who that women is. His attorney tells us, he is married with no talk of divorce, yet he wouldn't comment whether either one was having an affair.

"They're very concerned, his parents were there and they are very concerned about the allegations and the circumstances surrounding their son," says Bachner's Attorney James Marcus.

Relatives will be able to visit with Bachner at the Ogle County Jail where he's currently being held. Federal Authorities have 30 days to file formal charges.

Bachner will be back in court Monday for a detention hearing, that's when the judge chooses to set bond or bail. He'll also have a preliminary hearing, which determines whether there's probable cause that lead to his arrest.
