A group has formed to stop a company from burning tires to create energy in Stephenson County. The Good Neighbor Coalition met to inform the community about what they have found out about American Eco-Whey. The company wants to build a gastrification plant in Rock City.
Organizers tell 23 News that county board members were invited but will not attend. Stephenson County board chairman John Blum says board members must refrain from debate.
Blum says that could compromise the due process consideration. Right now the county is in the very early planning stage with American Eco-Whey and attending is not proper procedure. The group is planning on holding additional meetings.
