The American Center for Law and Justice filed a lawsuit in federal court yesterday in Springfield that seeks to halt the rule. The public-interest group says it violates a pharmacist's right to refuse on religious and moral grounds.
The suit names Gov. Rod Blagojevich and the heads of the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and its Division of Professional Regulation.
But a Blagojevich spokeswoman calls the rule "a clear and common-sense way to ensure that women have access to the medication their doctors prescribe."
