Man Arrested After Shooting Back at Suspect

ROCKFORD (WIFR) - A man has been arrested after shooting back at a suspect.

Just before 9 p.m. Sunday, someone called 911 and said several gunshots could be heard at 800 Furman Street and someone could be seen running down Furman Street.

Rockford Police say they found a home on the 1400 block of Ashland Avenue that had been hit with gunfire. A witness said someone went into the home holding a large gun. No injuries were reported.

Officers found two more guns inside the home. 21-year-old Darius D. Dawson said someone fired several gunshots into the home. He told police he walked outside and shot at the suspect.

Dawson has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and not having a FOID card.
