A key state lawmaker is pushing to have the Legislature declare the 1985 Chicago Bears as the greatest football team ever on the 20th anniversary of that world championship team.
House Minority Leader Tom Cross says he came up with the idea after playing golf this summer with a member of the team that made "the Fridge" and the "Super Bowl Shuffle" popular.
His resolution praises the team for a dominating 15-and-1 season and Super Bowl win.
It even calls for the Legislature to salute the team with the singing of the Bears' official tribute song titled "Bear Down, Chicago Bears."
Cross says he plans to push for approval of the resolution when lawmakers return to work next month.
