AAA estimates that more than 37 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home this holiday, about a 1% increase over last year. Peak driving times are expected to be between noon and eight p.m. on both Wednesday and next Sunday. The average prices for hotels and rental cars are up on three percentage points over last year's prices.
And just in time for the holiday rush, the State of Illinois is trying to ease congestion. The next round of open tolling lanes will be open Monday, November 21st. The Boughton road toll plaza along I-355 will have a non-stop toll collection for I-pass users.
