Sunday at Sabrooke Park, young children could have died, after a shooting killed one man and put dozens of parents on edge.

The incident happened at around 2 p.m. Sunday. Police say two cars went off road into this field near the park. Multiple shots were fired, shots which took the life of 23-year-old Andrew Brown. On Monday, families living nearby say the shooting proves why they don't let their kids ever play at the park. Many are now terrified to even cut through the park to get to a store. Others say they'll still bring their children, but admit they're thankful their loved ones weren't nearby when shots rang out.

"It could have been anybody, anybody just through the field. These people don't have any consideration for anything. This is where families live," Holly Manley said.

Rockford Police are still working on the description of any suspects involved, and the vehicle they were driving.
