Initial reports say that possibly lightning struck a barn in the 6100 block of Tate Road. The homeowner says he saw a bright bolt just before 5 p.m. Saturday night. Inside the barn was a large heard of cattle and the Northwest fire department says some of the cows died. The family escaped without any injuries. Multiple fire departments were initially called to the scene but have since vacated. Northwest fire is expected to remain at the site overnight putting out hot spots and sifting through debris.
