The Metro Centre's "Got Cher Babe" and some hope her concert will bring much needed momentum to the ailing facility.

In her final leg of her farewell tour, Cher is stopping in Rockford and Metro Centre officials hope the superstar will help change the tune around the Metro Centre.

"We have a lot of great things coming and we feel this spring is shaping up to be one of our best," said Corey Pearson, Centre Events General Manager.

It shows that we can top named acts back in Rockford. We're are just thrilled, and I think you can just feel the buzz in the building today and it's the kind of buzz we need," said Gary Marzorati, Metro Centre Board member.

The buzz they need as Centre events faces a substantial budget deficit and a drop off in attendance. Also on Friday, officials announced plans to lay new concrete and replace the seats in the 22-year-old facility.

"You have to show the place is up to date if you're going to attract the best acts," Marzorati said.

Tickets for the Cher show go on sale Feb. 1 for $80 and $60. While many are balking at the ticket prices, Cher usually sells out in a matter of minutes.
