Deborah Schroeder pleaded guilty earlier this year to felony theft and official misconduct charges. During her sentencing hearing Friday, Schroeder was ordered to repay the money she stole, serve 90 days in the Boone County Jail and complete 30 months of probation. Schroeder admitted to police after she was arrested that she embezzled the money from the Caledonia's general fund. She blamed the theft on a gambling problem.

Boone County State's Attorney Jim Hursh argued that Schroeder should serve six months in jail since she provided no evidence in court of a gambling addiction. Schroeder resigned her post in December.
