ComEd Gives Customers With Unpaid Bills a Break

Com-Ed spokeswoman Tabrina Davis says the utility won't disconnect customers for non-payment because of the sweltering temperatures forecast for this weekend. The reprieve, however, only lasts until Tuesday.

Davis says Com-Ed decided to give people with unpaid bills more time because the temperatures aren't usually this high and the utility is worried about customers' health if they can't run fans or air-conditioners.

Com-Ed says about 4,000 customers are facing disconnection on Tuesday.
