Rockford police are searching for an armed robber who held up a gas station early Sunday night. The incident happened at the Phillips 66 at 2000 E. Harrison Avenue.
Police say the man forced the store's clerk to the ground at gunpoint, and then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5'7'' tall with long brown or blond hair. He was last seen wearing a black leather jacket and a black ski mask.
Police are also searching for a man who stole a car with a 4-year-old boy still inside. This happened Saturday night. Rockford police say the cars owner, 22-year-old Patricia Welch, left her vehicle running with her son in the back seat. Welch then went into Laredo Liquors on South Main.
Police found the vehicle abandoned at West and Knowlton Street. The boy was still inside and un-harmed. Police say the man probably noticed the child inside and fled. The mother Patricia Welch was arrested on charges of child endangerment.
