If you owned an "invisibility cloak", you'd have a sneak peak at "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince." but until midnight, a full-blown "Yule Ball" has begun, as youngsters around the world prepare for JK Rowling's 6th installment of the series.

"It's definitely a phenomenon on to itself; I've never seen a series of books that gets kids so excited about reading. We never hear parents say I have to make my child put the book down--so it's on to itself," says Erin Taylor, owner of Wonderland Books and Toys in Rockford. Taylor will be partnering with the Rockford Public Library for a Harry Potter extravaganza.

"The library is having a huge event--children can ride the Forest City Queen across the river to Hogwarts--which is the library. They’ll have potions classes, owls and crafts--and at 12:01 am we'll sell the book," says Taylor.

The release has been shrouded in secrecy. Taylor received an 800-book shipment on Thursday, wrapped in black plastic...

Wizard's of all ages are heading to Gringotts Wizarding bank to withdraw some galleons, in order to purchase the new book...

"I'm planning on staying up all night to finish the book," says Harry Potter fan Chris Rakos.

"I read the first one in one night, the next day I got the 2nd and read it in one night--did the same with the 3rd and 4th. I was very excited when the 3rd came out and now I'm even more excited about the 6th," says Harry Potter enthusiast Sarah Christensen.

The book's publisher, Scholastic, has printed 10.8 million copies of "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince", the largest first printing in US history.

The boy wizard has captivated a culture, casting a spell that's brought a touch of magic to the lives of loyal readers.

The Harry Potter books have become a global phenomenon, selling 270 million copies in 62 languages and spawning a series of Hollywood films.
