It was a "supersonic" addition to the Greater Rockford Airports' growth over the past 3 years. The final numbers aren't in yet, but the airport is estimating that between 35 and 50 thousand people walked through the gates during the 3-day show.
Airfest director Rudy Malnati says it was a spectacular experience for the crowds, and he would know, he's been the director of the Chicago Airshow for the last 12 years.
Malnati joined with airport leaders today to discuss the event. He says there are some kinks that need to be corrected for next year, like transportation and parking issues.

Malnetti says the military aircraft were always advertised as "subject to availability."
With the US embroiled in battle in Iraq and Afghanistan, he says the airport was fortunate to get the aircraft it did.
