TWO THIEVES ARE SEEN HARD AT WORK ON ROCKFORD'S SOUTHEAST SIDE. THEY HAVEN'T BEEN CAUGHT YET, BUT RESIDENTS ARE HOPEFUL THEY WILL BE.

THEY'RE HOPEFUL BECAUSE THE ENTIRE INCIDENT WAS CAUGHT ON TAPE. A SURVEILLANCE CAMERA WAS SET-UP BY A RESIDENT WHO LIVES NEARBY.

AFTER CHECKING OUT THE AREA A FEW MINUTES EARLIER, A YOUNG MAN AND WOMAN WALK UP TO THIS RESIDENT'S HOUSE - NEAR THE 14-HUNDRED BLOCK OF BROADWAY. MOMENTS LATER THEY'RE RUNNING FROM THE HOME WITH GUTTERS AND DOWNSPOUTS IN HAND.

HOMEOWNER TOBY HALDEMAN SAYS HE WAS STUNNED WHEN HE WOKE UP AND SAW THESE ITEMS MISSING.

ROCKFORD DEPUTY POLICE CHIEF DOMINIC IASPARRO SAYS THIS IS ACTUALLY A COMMON CRIME. HE SAYS THEIVES HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO STEAL GUTTERS, SIDING - ANYTHING ALUMINUM OFF A HOUSE. THERE'S A MARKET FOR THE METAL. AND IASPARRO SAYS THEIVES WILL DO JUST ABOUT ANYTHING FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL GAIN.

IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON THIS CRIME CALL ROCKFORD POLICE.
