Naplate Village President Dawn Dettore says EPA officials plan to return this fall. In 2003, the EPA tested several Naplate homes, but this time they want to check them all.
More than 200 Naplate families sued a company called Pilkington North America, contending the company did nothing about arsenic in the village's drinking water. The arsenic leaked from a glass-making plant in Ottawa that Pilkington bought in 1986.
The lawsuit was settled last week for $2 million after a federal judge ruled Pilkington wasn't liable for the contamination.
Naplate is about 60 miles south of Rockford. It is just west of Ottawa.
