The Crusader Clinic in Rockford is being nationally recognized for leading the nation in reducing the number of low birth rate infants.
The Crusader Clinic has been working on reducing low birth rate infants for four years now. Infants weighing five and a half pounds or less at the time of birth are considered to have a low birth weight. As a predicator of infant mortality the medical and social costs are significant for these babies and their families. The clinic says prenatal care is the best way to prevent this problem.
The Crusader Clinic's efforts have been featured as one of four models in a national video-conference held last October.
