Wal-Mart officials have asked that 35 acres of land at the southwest side of the intersection of Rockton Road and Highway 251 be annexed to Rockton and then zoned for commercial use.
Rockton village president Dale Adams says the farmer who owns the land has already signed a contract with the retail giant.
Wal-Mart plans to build a 200,000 square foot Supercenter there. It’s the same size as the new facility on West Riverside.
The first public hearing is set for Tuesday May 17 at the Rockton village hall.
