ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A local restaurant is offering a $100 reward for the safe return of their lawn gnome.
Der Rathskeller on Auburn Street purchased the trinket nearly 40 years ago from Germany. Owners say they want the gnome back, saying it's become one of the trademarks of the restaurant. The eatery is analyzing security footage, and says they can pin point the time it was taken. A missing poster of the nameless gnome is making its way around Facebook pages across the Stateline as the community tries to help out.
"They go with the place, I had a fire in 2000 with smoke and water damage and not a single gnome was damaged and here on a Saturday night someone just walks off with it”, says Der Rathskeller owner Betty Giesen.
The business says if you have their beloved lawn gnome, you can turn it in for a $100 reward or drop it off anonymously next door to Rockford Lithograph. The valuable has been missing since February, it has a little rake in his hand.
