ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Now to a story you wanted to see covered on face book, our fan Jay Peterson wanted a inside look at the new Farm and Fleet in Rockton. 23 News walked through the new store and looked at the opening and its benefits to the Rockton community.
The newest Farm and Fleet in Rockton is just hours away from opening its doors and co-owner Jane Blain Gilbertson says they are almost ready to go.
Gilbertson said, "Mostly a lot of spit and polish at this point. Most of the stock was on the shelves by mid last week so we're just looking for small pieces of inventory here and there."
Farm and Fleet is opening its 35th store, hoping to give customers from the Rockton/Roscoe area a more convenient location. Gilbertson said she felt it was the right time to open another location despite a rough economy over the last few years.
Gilbertson said, "This is our 35th store and I think probably through tougher economic times people find more value in our stores. So typically in tougher times we actually do better so we are very fortunate to be able to grow and continue to add jobs."
With more commercial development space available around the new store, village leaders hope the boom will continue on their east side.
The store officially opens tomorrow morning. Its three-day grand opening kicks off April 26th.
However, that's not where the benefits end for the Village of Rockton
Village of Rockton President Dale Adams said, “The sales tax. We are able to take the sales tax from that and use it to benefit some other commercial areas and some other areas in town and then of course it's the property tax. The school districts benefit."

Again, special thanks to jay for suggesting the story on The Pulse.
