MORE THAN 550 NEW JOBS ARE HEADING OUR WAY. THREE COMPANIES ANNOUNCE TODAY THEY'LL BE SETTING UP SHOP IN BELVIDERE TO SUPPLY PARTS FOR CHRYSLER.
THREE NEW CHRYSLER SUPPLIERS. 557 NEW LOCAL JOBS. IT’S AN ANNOUCEMENT THAT REVS UP THE STATELINE ECONOMY ONCE AGAIN.
"This impact is much greater than Boone County and Belvidere - it's good for the whole region," says Belvidere Mayor Fred Brereton.
SUPPLIER ANDROID INDUSTRIES IS BUILDING A NEW FACILITY JUST NORTH OF THE CRYSLER PLANT. THE COMPANY WILL HIRE 205 NEW WORKERS TO SPECIALIZE IN COMPLEX MODULE ASSEMBY.
SPAIN BASED GRUPO ANTOLIN HAS SET UP SHOP JUST EAST OF CHRYSLER. THEY NEED 150 NEW EMPLOYEES TO SUPPLY DOOR PARTS TO CHRYSLER.
AND JOHNSON CONTROLS - A SEAT SUPPLIER FOR CHRYSLER - WILL ADD 202 NEW WORKERS TO ITS CURRENT FACILITY IN SYCAMORE.
THE HIRING PROCESS FOR THE PLANTS WILL BEGIN AROUND SEPTEMBER.
"We're looking for people who are very motivated and aggressive," says Pablo Ucar, Group Antolin Belvidere Plant Manager.
"The number one thing we're looking for is that they can work as a team," adds the Belvidere Plant Manager for Androit Industries Paul Harter.
THE STATE PROVIDED 6.6 MILLION DOLLARS IN TAX INCENTIVES AND GRANTS TO HELP LURE THE SUPPLIERS AND THE JOBS TO OUR AREA:
"Without the state help, they would not have come here," says Jack Lavin, director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Development.
AND MORE BUSINESSES ARE LIKELY TO FOLLOW - THIS LIKELY WON'T BE THE LAST ANNOUNCEMENT OF ITS KIND.
TODAY'S ANNOUCEMENT COMES ON TOP OF THE 1-THOUSAND JOBS CREATED WITH CHRYSLER'S EXPANSION AND THE 500 JOBS CREATED FROM THE NEW CHRYLSER SORTING CENTER.
