A Winnebago County Board member voices her opposition to the county's plan to lay off 12 maintenance workers.
The county administration is discussing plans to outsource the janitorial services of the Public Safety Building. The move would eliminate the positions of 12 custodial employees because the new cleaning service would have its own workers.
Four other county buildings in the downtown campus were contracted out to a cleaning service three years ago. The county claims it would save money to have all five buildings on a service contract.
