A suicide bomber Friday near Tel-Aviv claimed the lives of at least four Israelis and injured dozens more.
Sen. Dick Durbin commented on the violence in the Mideast during his visit to Rockford earlier Friday evening. The senator said that he was happy with Condoleezza Rice's visit to Israel and hopes that Palestinians and Israelis will stop the violence and continue their peace talks.
The suicide bombing is the first major occurrence of violence since an unofficial truce was called earlier in the month between Israelis and Palestinians.
Sen. Barack Obama also in town Friday said despite the violence there is a window of opportunity for peace. He also noted that he believes the majority of Israelis and a growing number of Palestinians would like to see peace.
No militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing and it is unclear how the still very fresh wounds of this divided country will be affected.
