A playground was dedicated to the memory of Kevin Rice Sr. Family members and friends of the fallen police detective took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Hundreds of people were on hand to dedicate this playground to Rice. His wife says she couldn't think of a more perfect way to honor his memory.
Detective Rice was shot and killed on Rockford's west side over a year ago. The Rockford based kids around the world began building the playground last week at the corner of Stanley and Preston Streets. Rockford Mayor Doug Scott says this playground is extra special.
And what an example to follow. Rice’s friends say he was dedicated to his job, loyal to his family and true to his friends.
