A weekend of waiting and wondering is the latest challenge for those investigating the death of a newborn baby.
On Friday night a newborn baby was found dead in Rockton. An autopsy was supposed to take place on Saturday but has been rescheduled to Monday.
Winnebago County coroner Sue Fiduccia says the autopsy was rescheduled because the body is still frozen. The baby girl was found Friday inside a garbage bag that had been discarded along Will Road in Winnebago County.
A 13-year-old girl discovered the body when she went out to investigate a piece of bloody clothing the family dog had brought home. The girl walked along the road outside her home and found the baby's body inside a bag.
Anyone with any information should call the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department.
