A Rockford School Board Member speaks out against the new school referendum on the November ballot. This happened at a Rockford Educating All Children, or R.E.A.C.H., meeting in Rockford Monday night.

Rockford school board member Stephanie Caltagerone says the timing is wrong for the new school referendum. She says it's too soon to tell if the Rockford school referendum is needed.

The new referendum would ask that the district's education fund rate remain at three-point-seven percent for another four years. Mark Sargent thinks if it would help the teachers and the kids, the referendum is a good idea.

But several members of reach say the school district is not providing all the details.

The spokesman for the Rockford Public Schools, Jim Jennings, says a representative from the school district did not attend tonight's meeting because they do not want to cater to one group.
